MINDFUL EATING
“Mindfulness is the ability to bring attention and awareness to one’s present experience with kindness, without judgement and letting go.
Mindful eating is about bringing mindful awareness to food choices and the experience of eating. Through mindful eating, one learns to become more aware of the physical sensations, emotions and thoughts associated with eating, and to reconnect with one’s innate inner wisdom regarding hunger and satiety signals. Mindful eating allows one to develop an healthier and more joyful relationship with food and body.”
MINDFUL EATING PROGRAMMES ( individual and group) such as MB-EAT (Mindfulness based eating awareness training) and others (MEC, Ieat) are designed to develop a greater awareness and an healthier, more joyful and compassionate relationship with food and the body. They are particularly suitable for people with eating disorders or disordered eating behavious or for those who want to improve their relationship with food and body.
Mindful eating programmes are structureted in 8-10 sessions training of 2-hours each based on mindfulness and mindful eating practices. They help to develop greater awareness of body sensations and enteroceptive signals (e.g. hunger, fullness, etc.) and the experience of eating (senses, emotions, thoughts, feelings, impulses). This facilitates a reconnection with the body, enhancing greater acceptance, kindness, compassion and trust toward oneself and the body. It also encourages conscious and healthier choices based on inner and outer wisdom.
